So I did a thing…

So I Did a Thing…

I just put out a new speaker reel. And I am not sure folks understand how hard that is. These things are harder than they look.

Not because of the footage. I have tons of that. And yes, I am critical of how I look in it.
Not because of the editing. I had a fantastic editor, but anyone who has worked with me knows I will keep asking for edits until the editor wants to strangle me,

It’s truly difficult, because at some point in the process,
you have to stop and ask yourself:

Is this really me?
Is this what I want to be known for?
Is this the message I’m ready to stand behind… again and again, on stages, in rooms, on podcasts, in conversations that matter?

And that’s where it gets real.

Something Has Been Shifting

I’ve been on a lot of stages over the last few years.

Different industries. Different audiences. Different size rooms. Different expectations.

And all along the way… something has been shifting.

In me.
And in the audiences.

Early on, like a lot of speakers, I was encouraged to focus on ‘resilience’.

And that made sense.
It’s important. It’s needed. It’s certainly part of my story. I have studied it and done the rough work on it.

But when I’m being honest…
I’ve admitted my head fully understood and was in it, but my heart was never fully into the trauma.

It wasn’t in retelling the hardest moments.
Or staying in the struggle longer than necessary.

My heart has always been in what comes after.

The rebuild. The forward motion. The moment when someone lifts their head and thinks:

“Okay… now what?” - I wanted to help get them get to that moment and get them moving forward..

I’m Wired for the Future

I’ve always been wired for the optimistic. I love the forward-looking part of the story. Let’s go!

Not ignoring what’s hard.
Not pretending it didn’t happen.

But choosing not to live there. Not to stay there.

Choosing to focus on what’s next. What’s possible.
What we can actually do with everything we’ve been through.

And over time, that’s the part of the message that started to come through more clearly on stage.

This Message Finally Feels Like Me

So I started leaning into it.

Testing it.
Refining it.
Saying it out loud in rooms full of people navigating their own version of uncertainty and change.

And this is the message that our fast-moving world needs right now.

Change isn’t slowing down.
The people who win are the ones who get good at it.

Simple. True. Relevant. (we are all in it together)

No drama.
No dwelling.
Just a clear reflection of the world we’re all living in right now, and some really cool tools to help you move forward.

And Here’s What I’m Seeing

I’ve now shared this message with thousands of people!
from leadership teams at companies like Google (I was so thrilled to be hired to give a 2-hour workshop to one of their North American leadership teams) and I’ve shared it on large conference stages.

And the response has been powerful, and it’s been consistent! which is exciting.

People lean in.

They nod.

They come up afterward and say things like:

“That’s exactly what I needed.”
“That’s what this feels like right now.”
“I didn’t need motivation… I needed a way to think about it.”

In my new speaker reel video there is a great soundbite from a woman and her friend who heard me at a Leadership conference in Baton Rouge Rouge - and in her perfect Louisiana accent she says - I feel like I can do anything! I can take on the world!”

Because right now, people aren’t lacking drive. They need to feel hopeful that they can handle all this change.

They’re navigating constant change. Pressure. Uncertainty. And trying to keep performing while everything keeps shifting around them.

They don’t need more hype. (yes, i am conidered a ‘motivational speaker’, but ther is no (Rah-Rah cheers or high-five the person next to you) I bring energy, but I just like to get people to think, to laugh, to feel deeply… and then embolden them to go be themselves - a next version of themselves that they are super proud of.

They need a way to handle all this change.

It’s Fun Again

This part surprised me.

Delivering this message is fun. Very fun.

It’s energizing.
It’s engaging.
It’s forward-looking in a way that feels hopeful, but still grounded and real.

And I can feel the difference. I think the audience can too.

It’s not about what people have been through. It’s about what they’re capable of next.

So Yes… I Did a Thing

I put this new reel out into the world. You can see it here on my website. on the homepage - click ‘video’ or ‘watch Nina speak”

And I’m proud of it. not just because of how it looks,
but because of what it represents.

Clarity.
Alignment.
And a message that finally feels fully, authentically mine.

The Takeaway (If You Need One Right Now)

Along the way, a lot of well-meaning people will give you advice.

They’ll tell you what works. What sells. What you should be doing.

And sometimes… they’re right.

But sometimes, there’s a quieter voice underneath all of that.

A voice that says:

“This is what I actually want to say.”
“This is what feels true to me.”
“This is the direction I want to go.”

Don’t ignore that voice. (I tried to ignore mine for too long)

Because at the end of the day, you’re the one who has to live your life. Whether you stand on a stage, or just have to say words you believe in.
You’re the one who has to live in your message, your thoughts on the world.

So get quite a moment and listen to that voice deep down - it’s in you.

That’s where the best work comes from.

OK - Right now, I am going to get back to work, because I’m excited to keep sharing this message of change with as many people as I can.
